Program Description

Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy opened its doors in the fall of 2002 and was granted full accreditation status in 2007 from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. The specific objective of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program is to educate pharmacists in a fully integrated, faith-based environment. The School of Pharmacy offers exceptional academic training and develops competent, compassionate pharmacists whose professionalism integrates the physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions of health. Graduates will be able to provide high quality pharmacy care as fully participating members of healthcare teams committed to whole-person care.

Possible Careers

Graduates may work in community pharmacies, ambulatory care, long-term care, and in clinical or hospital settings. In addition, they may practice in the pharmaceutical, insurance, law, home health, nuclear medicine, public health, and education arenas. Pharmacists serve as educators to other health care professionals and as disease prevention and health care advisors to patients.

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines for our program are published annually in May for the following academic year's admission. Our program uses the national application service . The typical PharmCAS application submission window is from mid-July through early April. Please check the admissions pages on our website for the currently published deadlines.

Admissions Requirements


Admissions Application Procedure
  1. All applicants to the PharmD program must complete their application through PharmCAS. The admissions cycle begins in mid-July and ends early May.
  2. A minimum of two letters of reference are required. Letters of reference are recommended from science professors and professionals in the field of pharmacy and must be submitted through PharmCAS. A letter of reference is recommended from a pastor, clergy, or spiritual advisor. If an applicant is currently attending a Seventh-Day Adventist institution, a recommendation letter from the pre-professional committee is preferred. This letter will fulfill all requirements for letters of reference.
  3. Application reviews will be conducted as completed applications are received. After the review process has been finalized, selected applicants will be invited for an interview.
 
All decisions will be corresponded through postal mail.

 Preferred minimum GPA:
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale
  • Math/Science GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale
*Passing grade of “C” or better in all of the listed prerequisite courses

PCAT scores are not required nor evaluated if submitted
 
Applicants who have pharmacy experience and have obtained a Bachelors degree are preferred.
 
International 猎奇重口s, in addition to meeting the above minimum requirements, are required to:
  • Pass the TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 for internet-based and 213 for computer based)
  • Submit foreign transcripts for evaluation to WES

A 猎奇重口 who has not completed a Bachelor's degree will be considered for admission into the School of Pharmacy. Applicants without a Bachelor's degree must complete additional coursework as follows:

  • Additional 12 semester or 16 quarter units of coursework in Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Additional 12 semester or 16 quarter units of coursework in Humanities and Fine Arts
  • Additional 6 semester or 9 quarter units of English Composition.

    • Estimated amounts are for the academic year specified only. Amounts are based on full-time attendance for the number of months enrolled per academic year. International 猎奇重口s need to calculate 12 months of living expenses based on these amounts.
    • Amounts are expected to increase each year consistent with inflation in the professional education sector.
    • To qualify for financial aid, most 猎奇重口s must be enrolled at least half time in an aid eligible program and be taking degree requirements. Half time is 6 units in a quarter for undergraduate programs and 4 units in a quarter for graduate programs.
